Prince Harry, his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and her mother, Doria Ragland, were involved in a “near catastrophic” car chase while being followed by paparazzi on Tuesday night in New York, a spokesperson said.
“Last night, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi,” a statement said.
“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers.”
The statement did not specify where the chase occurred, but Meghan was in New York to attend the Women of Vision awards, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, where she was one of the honorees. The venue is in Midtown Manhattan, an area of the city where traffic is normally heavy.
The New York Police Department said it did not have a report of a car chase involving the prince and Meghan in the area, and there were no reports of any injuries or a crash. There were no immediate details about the incident.
This is a developing story.
